Welcome to the fifth and final segment of How to Have Amazing Energy! 💚
I honestly can’t believe we’ve already made it to the end of this series. It’s been one of my favorite things I’ve written for RCLM, and I hope these guides have given you plenty of ideas to experiment with over the past few weeks.
If you’re just joining us (or you’re still making your way through the series), here’s where to start:
For this final part of this series, I want to zoom out a little…
Health isn’t something that exists in isolation. The way you move through the world affects far more than your own mood or productivity. It shapes the people you live with, the conversations you have, the culture you create at work, and even the strangers you cross paths with during the day.
And that’s what today’s guide is all about!
We’ll talk about the psychology behind becoming a positive force in other people’s lives, why contribution is surprisingly good for your own health, and the everyday habits that make someone the kind of person others naturally enjoy being around. By the end, I hope you’ll walk away with a completely different way of thinking about energy. Instead of asking, “How do I get more of it?” you’ll start asking, “How can I create more of it?”
One of my favorite things about psychology is how often it reminds us that we humans are far less independent than we like to think. We spend a lot of time worrying about our own habits, our own mood, and our own mindset, but we’re constantly borrowing from the people around us too. Enthusiasm spreads. Stress spreads. So does generosity, curiosity, patience, and optimism. Before you know it, you’ve picked up someone else’s attitude without even realizing it. That’s because our brains are wired to pay attention to each other. We copy what we see, mirror what we experience, and slowly begin treating those behaviors as normal.
Once you start noticing it, you’ll see it everywhere. One person smiles and suddenly everyone else seems a little friendlier. One coworker starts bringing homemade lunches, and a few weeks later half the office has stopped ordering takeout every day. One person decides to put their phone away at dinner, and somehow the whole table follows. And the opposite happens too! Negativity spreads. Complaining spreads. Eye rolls, impatience, gossip, and constant rushing all have a way of catching on. That’s why culture isn’t created through one big moment in history. It’s built through hundreds of tiny interactions that people repeat because someone else did them first.
That’s what I want you to keep in the back of your mind as you read today’s guide! Whether you realize it or not, you’re influencing the people and environment around you every single day. And the question we’ll be answering by the end of today’s energy reset is: How do you become the person who starts the ripple instead of simply getting carried along by everyone else's?
