Ashley Abubakar, KP Kaszubowski · Moonshadow

Moonshadow is a newsletter written by Ashley Abubakar—shadow work coach and student of Barry Michels—and KP Kaszubowski, astrologer, book doula, and parts work coach.

Above, Ashley and KP discuss the eclipse, the end to the guru era, and wanting Moonshadow to develop into a community-built space for shadow work and astrological integration. in dialogue. in each other’s presence.

We’re experiencing something rare: the first North Node new moon eclipse in Aquarius while Pluto is also in Aquarius, a combination we haven’t seen in our lifetimes. Pluto, that delightful planet of power structures and things we’d rather not look at directly, is asking us to zoom out.

To see the bigger picture.

To remember that real change requires more than rage-posting and hoping someone else handles it.

The math is bleak and clarifying: 2.5 million people need to protest one specific thing to shift policy. (Actually, the real number is 3.5% of a population which would be ~11.5 million Americans ← KP loves to weave in statistics. Rarely gets them right in the moment.🙃)

Your individual security? Probably tied to collective action whether you like it or not. Aquarian energy doesn’t care if you’re an introvert who hates group projects. It just is what it is.

  1. Where do I automatically slot myself into hierarchies? Notice when you reflexively rank yourself—above or below others—in your work, creative projects, relationships. What part of you believes the spotlight is limited, that someone else’s visibility threatens yours? What would collapse if you stopped treating existence like a zero-sum game?

  2. What am I jealous of right now, and what does that jealousy actually want? Not the person. The person is just the screen you’re projecting onto. What belief underneath (scarcity, illegitimacy, the conviction you’re already too late) is running the show? What happens if you let that person’s face blur out and look at what’s really driving the feeling?

Watch our conversation with Barry Michels over on his Substack, where we dig into shadow work, astrology, and how active tools feel more immediate than the more cerebral abstract practices like talk therapy.

This is what Moonshadow does each month: we track new and full moons and offer prompts for self-led shadow work inspired by these lunations.

We’re figuring this out as we go, so if you work with these prompts and something lands (or doesn’t), tell us.

Your perspective sharpens ours.
