This is just my opinion and my observations from a few interactions that i have seen in social media...
It’s sad and yet almost laughable to me how people on social media argue over points of view. It is at best your belief and more often than not it is simply an opinion or a perspective... all of which are changeable. Are we so puffed up with pride that we need to be right? And why do we marry to that need to be right, the belief that allows us to feel we know more than another human to such a degree that we decide it is up to us to attack, ridicule or school them based upon a post. Of course when approached we may say we were just explaining ourselves but how is attacking someone personally (calling them names such as idiots, tin-foil hats, woo or other derogatory names) explaining oneself?
And the most eye opening part is that this is often done by those who tote themselves as educated, religious, connected, peaceful, unconditionally loving and/or spiritual beings. Where is the acceptance and love? Where is the understanding? Certainly there is more than one opinion, belief, and/or perspective that can be held on any given topic in this world and we all should be free to share them at will. However, when we become willing to attack, name call, ridicule or school another isn’t it time to look at what our motivations really are and perhaps where we are really at with peace, love, understanding and acceptance of others? If you don’t agree with what is posted in a group why not just scroll on? How can we ever have world peace when we are so intolerant of other views?
Besides, living as though you are in charge of the rights and wrongs of all other people in the world (well at least of social media) doesn’t seem like much fun. I can only imagine we would always have to be on duty making sure everything is as we think it should be and I for one am not interested in using my energy in that way. So to those who will continue arguing I say I’m just gonna leave you to it and happily scroll on.
