Just a quick weather preview for this weekend’s Sierre-Zinal race in the Swiss Alps. Since this is a European race, I’ll default to reporting in terms of the metric system.

Temperatures this year appear moderate, compared to prior events from the past decade:

Note, this is reporting max temperatures for the day. The 31k race starts at 11:00 am for elites, which will be warm, but probably not the warmest part of the day. Assuming the elites will all finish within a few hours, here’s the weather they should run through:

To be transparent: I don’t really know much about this race, but it looks like it starts down in the valley of Sierre, then climbs until descending (but not completely) into Zinal:

Note that I modified the typical race day weather chart I normally create, just to show the potential four-hour elite window.
