This is as amusing as it is frightening. It’s not too long. Worth reading all of it. From yesterday at 2:04 pm D.C. time:
The key here is there’s no coherent strategy. Even though Trump’s and Kim’s actions involve the three major global hotspots: East Asia, the Middle East and Eastern Europe.
And North Korea is a nuclear power. Little Rocket Man, Trump’s buddy, in 10 minutes could kill hundreds of thousands of people in Japan or South Korea, or kill everyone on U.S. bases in South Korea.
AP reported last week: “North Korea launches another missile toward sea ahead of US-South Korean military drills.”
Trump is peeved at our ally South Korea because they wouldn’t help with the “Denuclearization of the Islamic Republic of Iran.” Which he also sometimes calls his “excursion,” but best is termed Trump’s Iran Forever War. That’s because Seoul needs not only Middle Eastern oil, but helium for its computer chips. Which means being on good terms with Iran. Because Iran now, thanks to Trump’s war, controls the Strait of Hormuz, and isn’t going to give it up. Trump can do nothing about that.
But there’s more. Kim Jong Un long has helped Iran build missiles and, probably, the infrastructure for an eventual nuclear bomb. Trump’s Pyongyang pal is helping the military that’s killing our troops.
And there’s yet more. Kim has grown ever closer to Moscow. He has sent troops to fight Ukraine. Those troops gained invaluable experience in modern drone combat warfare, which South Korea’s troops lack.
And some reports say North Korean missiles are being shot against Ukraine. That makes sense. Testing weapons on the range is one thing. But the ultimate test is if they work in combat.
Which brings us back to South Korea. Both the Ukraine War, which Trump promised to end “in 24 hours,” and Trump’s Iran Forever War have improved North Korea’s military immeasurably.
Yet it’s South Korea Trump brands “hostile”!
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
