How we connect with each other matters.

This past week, I made the decision to DoorDash with my son as his body double, co-navigator, food holder, etc. This was one of the best decisions I ever made as his Dad. Not only did we enjoy the gorgeous mountain views of Oak Ridge/Knoxville, Tennessee, we had so many great conversations on topics we’ve longed to share with each other.

We shared struggles, philosophy, psychology, theology, and just life. Communication was much easier for us sitting side by side on a shared quest than just sitting across from each other trying to make it a thing.

Communication while doing stuff together comes more naturally. Silence and pregnant pauses before responding are welcome.

How could you approach your relationships from the side rather than head on?

What sacrifices will you have to make to join them for a period of time on their journey till they know you care?

What does meaningful connection look like for the two of you?
