In less than 5 months, median family ACA health insurance premiums will jump 15%. And that follows an average increase of 18%.
For ACA insureds that’s a total increase over two years of 36% - so you’ll be spending 1/3 more next year than you did last year for health insurance.
There are three reasons for this:
health systems are increasing charges to insured patients to pay for healthcare services they provide to the growing number of folks who lost premium subsides due to Republicans’ One Big Beautiful Bill: and
profit-seeking healthcare systems seeking to make up revenue shortfalls due to Republicans’ Medicaid cuts and higher operating costs due to higher labor costs. a shortage of healthcare workers and Trump’s tariffs.
There’s no doubt employers’ costs will also dramatically increase - for precisely the same reasons.
What does this mean for you?
Not good news for your family’s budget.
