The Gospel of John 8:44

“You are from your father the devil, and you choose to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks according to his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”

Dante overturns the popular idea of Lucifer ruling Hell.

The Devil is not enthroned.

His wings are useless, frozen.

He is trapped in ICE!

“Falsehood flies, and the Truth comes limping after it; so that when Men come to be undeceiv’d, it is too late; the Jest is over, and the Tale has had its Effect.”

John 8:31–32

“If you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”

Truth is not just factual accuracy—it is moral and spiritual freedom.

John 14:6

“I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Truth is not merely spoken by Jesus; it is personified in him.

Matthew 5:37

“Let your word be ‘Yes, Yes’ or ‘No, No’; anything more than this comes from the evil one.”

Jesus teaches:

• Truthfulness should be simple and direct

• Excessive oaths or exaggeration signal dishonesty

• Deception ultimately comes from evil

Matthew 15:18–19

“But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this is what defiles. For out of the heart come evil intentions, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander.”

Falsehood is not accidental; it flows from the heart.

Jesus condemned hypocrisy more than almost any other sin.

Matthew 23:27–28

“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs… outwardly you appear righteous to others, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.”

A hypocrite lives a public lie.

Matthew 24:4–5

“Beware that no one leads you astray. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and they will lead many astray.”

Falsehood is socially contagious.

Luke 16:1

“Whoever is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much; and whoever is dishonest in a very little is dishonest also in much.”

Dishonesty is not situational; it is character.

Matthew 12:36–37

“I tell you, on the day of judgment you will have to give an account for every careless word you utter; for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

Truth and lies are spiritually consequential.

John 17:17

“Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.”

Truth is how humans become morally whole.

John 12:46

“I have come as light into the world, so that everyone who believes in me should not remain in the darkness.”

Darkness here means deception, not ignorance.

Mark 8:36

The Lie Told by Kristi Noem, CEO of ICE
She claimed in her 2024 book that she had a face-to-face meeting with Korean Dictator Kim Jong-un. This meeting never occurred - her publisher admitted the lie. Noem’s was a heroic narrative lie: placing herself inside a dangerous geopolitical moment to project courage, authority, and global relevance.

A lie told to manufacture greatness corrodes the self. It might appear that all the things the world has to offer will satisfy the longings of our hearts but in truth not only will they not satisfy but they will, like a cancer, eat away and destroy your soul. Why would you pursue something that will destroy you?

Lies come from evil. Truth comes from God.
Character is revealed in speech.
Truth frees; lies enslave.
Society collapses when deception spreads.

Jesus’ teaching is metaphysical.

Falsehood has a father.
Truth has a source.
And humans choose which one they serve.
