They use lacrosse at an early age to attract middle school and high school students and allow them to see a brighter future for themselves through the lessons and the atmosphere around the game across the five boroughs of New York and beyond. CityLax was founded in 2005 by brothers-in-law Mathew Levine and Gavril Paternak. During a practice, the two coaches were approached by local NYC kids who had never seen a lacrosse stick before. What began as a spontaneous introduction to the sport quickly revealed a larger need and opportunity. Optimum Sports seeks a Supervisor, Sports Strategy. The position will support the development of sports marketing recommendations that are strategically aligned to client objectives, audience needs, and brand priorities. This role sits at the front end of the planning process, helping assess where sports can play a meaningful role within broader marketing strategies and ensuring opportunities are evaluated through both a strategic and business lens. This position is best suited for a candidate with a strong foundation in planning, partnerships, media, talent, or integrated marketing who is looking to deepen their experience in sports strategy. The role is less focused on day-to-day activation management and more focused on strategic alignment, opportunity evaluation, recommendation development, and cross-functional planning support. The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, highly organized, and comfortable working across multiple stakeholders to turn business needs and marketplace complexity into clear, actionable recommendations.
Duties: Support the development of sports marketing strategies rooted in client business objectives, brand positioning, target audience behaviors, and marketplace opportunity. · Help determine the role sports can play within broader communications, media, and marketing plans. Translate client and internal briefs into clear strategic direction, including key planning considerations, evaluation criteria, and recommendation pathways. Contribute to the creation of strategic frameworks, POVs, opportunity assessments, and presentation materials used to guide internal and client decision-making. Help ensure sports recommendations are aligned to brand fit, audience relevance, and expected business impact before activation planning begins. Partner with internal strategy, marketing, partnership, account, and activation teams to ensure sports thinking is integrated early and effectively within the planning process. Help bring clarity and structure to planning conversations by identifying key considerations, surfacing relevant opportunities, and supporting recommendation development. Requirements: 3–5 years of relevant experience in sports marketing, media strategy, partnerships, sponsorship, integrated planning, or a related field. Strong interest in sports and a clear understanding of the role sports can play in broader brand and marketing strategy. The University of Connecticut seeks an Assistant Athletics Director of Marketing and Fan Engagement.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for developing and coordinating marketing plans and promotional activities for all varsity teams, with emphasis on fan experience and revenue generation. Such plans may incorporate grassroots, traditional and digital marketing. Approve direct reports’ plans for their assigned sports. Supervise the marketing staff, which includes multiple full-time staff members, special payroll employee(s) and/or graduate assistant(s) and student workers. Responsible for hiring, training, directing and evaluating. Serve as a senior leader in the department’s External Leadership team. Maintain a strong and positive collaborative relationship with departments, including Creative Services, Video and Broadcast Productions, Communications, Ticket Sales and Operations, Event Management and Operations, Development and more. Develop advertising and digital marketing campaigns to effectively engage fans and supporters, grow social media followers and encourage ticket sales. Maintain advertising partner relationships and overall budget. Lead the development and execution of compelling, on-brand written content across multiple platforms, including email communications, website copy, digital advertising, press releases, and other marketing materials to effectively engage fans and support departmental initiatives. Oversee departmental email marketing strategy, including, but not limited to, creation of timelines, graphics preparation, and identification of targeted mailing lists from the athletics database. Use Eloqua email marketing tools to create communications and drive revenue. Leverage emerging technologies, data-driven tools, and innovative digital solutions to enhance marketing strategies, streamline operations, improve the fan experience, and identify new revenue generation opportunities for UConn Athletics.
