You’re a great investor.
You spot value early. You back people who show up. You can walk into a room and tell, inside five minutes, who’s real and who’s running a bit. That instinct built your career.
So explain to me why, in your dating life, you keep writing checks to a company with no revenue.
Every man you meet is presenting two things at once. Most women only hear one of them.
The pitch is what he tells you he’s going to be. The vision. The “once I get settled.” “Once work calms down” …The “I’m not usually like this.” The version of him that exists entirely in the future tense.
The build is what he’s actually shipped. What he does on a normal Wednesday. The track record that exists right now, today, with no imagination required from you.
The pitch is free. Anybody can pitch.
The build is the only thing that’s real.
And you (yes you) brilliant, discerning, hard-to-fool you …. keep falling for the pitch and calling it potential.
