My bathtub has been calling to me.

It looks out over our hayfield toward Mount Ascutney, which has been wearing a jaunty white beanie for the past couple of weeks. So I stick on the overflow cover and my waterproof pillow, run the warm water and toss in a handful of magnesium flakes. I’ll see you in an hour.

Granted, there’s the infrared sauna, a towering stack of books—including Katherine May’s Wintering: The Power of Rest and Retreat in Difficult Times, my annual cold-weather read—and a cloud drive full of restorative yoga practices. But there’s just something about that water. Now if it only went all the way up to my neck …

My neck is the spot where all my tension pools. The aches from long days in the garden, the mental gymnastics of keeping up with an online business, the daily heart and gut punches resulting from a nation in turmoil. So I turn to acupressure to soothe this tender narrow bridge between my body and brain.

Set aside about 20 minutes to tend to your own neck with your breath and hands, and my latest bite-sized video practice. No special tools, no harsh kneading … just your gentle touch and your own inner wisdom.

And afterwards? Reward yourself with that tubbie.
