"Beneath the Stairs" and "Keep This for Me"

Thanks to NetGalley and Atria Books for these free copies of “Beneath the Stairs” and “Keep This For Me” by Jennifer Fawcett.

After reading these two books, I’m now adding author Fawcett to my list of thriller, suspense, horror novelists to watch and I’ll read everything they write!

“Beneath the Stairs” tells of haunted Octagon House hidden in the woods. It’s sinister history keeps secrets of disappearances and murders. Clare and Abby snuck in as teens with traumatizing after-effects.

So years later, Clare needs to uncover why Abby has been sending her emails about that night. And why Abby returned to the house and is now in a coma.

“Keep This For Me” is Fiona’s hunt for the truth of the serial killer Eddie Ward who was suspected of abducting her mother, but her mother’s body was never found in the grave with his other victims.

What did Eddie Ward’s family know about the murders? Fiona tracks down Eddie’s ex-wife but it’s her granddaughter Lily who is eager to help Fiona get closure. And what of Eddie’s son Jason?

Both novels were gripping, suspenseful psychological thrillers with very touching, memorable characters.
