I’m delighted to share some good news today.

To my complete surprise, I’ve been selected as Kobo Plus Author of the Month!

In case you’ve never heard of it, Kobo Plus is a subscription service similar to Amazon’s Kindle Unlimited, with two important differences: for readers, Kobo Plus is cheaper and, for authors, we are not required to be exclusive to Kobo.

It’s a real win-win!

I’ve been keeping my nose to the grindstone working on Interstellar Fleet book 5, Augur’s Eye, and it’s shaping up nicely.

I might even be ready to write the blurb soon.

A strange vessel is trailing the Interstellar Fleet as it navigates the Red Zone, and the flagship’s skein mapper, Ignatius Robins, is so heavily burdened by a dark secret he may be unfit to perform his duties in dealing with the threat.

And in my downtime, I’ve been baking.

More than a year ago I was trying to find biscuits or other sweet indulgences that were free of palm oil.

Palm oil production is a blight on the environment and I wanted to do my small bit to help.

But did you know that palm oil is an ingredient in nearly all commercial cakes, biscuits etc?

I soon discovered that fact and, consequently, I decided to bake my own.

Since then, I’ve mostly kept to my resolution and enjoyed many tasty sweet snacks along the way (as well as a few disasters).

Above is my latest somewhat lazy creation: malt loaf made in a breadmaker.

It’s pretty nice toasted with butter, though I say so myself.
