For Our Freedom Amendment Named a 2026 World Changing Idea

The American Promise For Our Freedom Amendment was honored by being named one of Fast Company’s 2026 World Changing Ideas. The For Our Freedom Amendment will restore to states and to Congress, as each may see fit, power to set reasonable rules around money and politics and to distinguish between real humans and artificial entities, such as AIs.

Here’s Idaho House member Rep. Brandon Mitchell – riding the cross-partisan resurgence of federalism -- on why he co-sponsored the resolution making Idaho state #25 to call on Congress to propose the needed amendment:

“At the root of [the problem] is a financial arms race, powered by dark money and big checks written by out-of-state interests that don’t understand Idaho politics, priorities, and values.”

Where in recent years, state rep races could be run on a few hundred dollars and face-to-face local campaigning, many candidates now find themselves up against an onslaught of sometimes tens and hundreds of thousands dollars spent on dark money attack ads. Candidates are forced to respond by spending more time raising money and less time talking with constituents and gaining policy expertise.

Shaping AI Generated Information Space

Here is a communications opportunity and a warning for amenders.

I’ve been using Claude and ChatGPT to collect and organize data, but not to think or write for me. My settings permit both to remember all my inquiries and task assignments. I’m fairly scrupulous about checking results and correcting AI’s frequent errors (for which I receive their humble thanks). All of these interactions and work products are combined with what AIs have harvested from the digital world and computed into the tokens and parameters and weightings which yield a high probability estimate of what we know and how we think.

Amenders are on the wrong side this process because information space has been dominated for decades by anti-Article V biases. Article V convention backers are the underdogs, heard mostly unamplified from the back rows. Ask ChatGPT to give you the pros and cons and it will spit out the falsehoods about lack of convention rules, the runaway convention, and the unamendable Constitution.

AI presents this opportunity for amenders. Think of yourself as an advocate for your own views but also a shaper of Article V information space. Amenders have big picture responsibility for everything we put into digital space and for all our AI interactions. Whatever your case, make it clearly and succinctly. Use well-sourced and solidly substantiated factual claims. Consistently rebut the falsehoods. Tone down credibility-killing hyperbole and bombast. Share and cite effective language and arguments. Call out bias, error, and omission by AIs and by new and old media.
