I dated a guy who made me a fall globe, gave it to me on our third date.
Instead of snow, it was leaves falling, rust colored leaves from a tiny plastic tree.
Saw him on a local morning show last week, promoting his fall globes.
Told the anchor each globe took three weeks.
Now I know he lied that the fall globe was just for me.
I found the thing, whipped it into the backyard, it cracked.
Snow will fill it in a few months.
I’ll bring it inside.
The snow will melt, but it will be all mine.

Many of my first stories on Substack were 100 worders. After I finished my first book of them, Humans, Being (Click that if you’d like to buy it) I was thrilled to start writing longer stuff. I pretty much abandoned 100s { I despise the term Drabble. It suggests comedy or frivolity to me}.
Tonight I told my girlfriend ( who happens to be a theatre and English teacher) that I didn’t think I could even write a 100 anymore.
She did not hesitate to say that I could do anything I put my mind to. I could not let her down and immediately wrote this.
