If this newsletter looks a little different today, you’re not imagining things.
After a lot of thought (and more than a few hours obsessing over logos, banners, and fonts), I’ve decided it was time for a new name.
Since 2021, you’ve known this newsletter as Jill Schildhouse’s Media Insights & Assignments. It was a pretty accurate description of what I shared at the time: source requests for my current stories, media observations, and the occasional glimpse behind the scenes of my work as a journalist.
But over the years, this newsletter has grown into something much bigger (and I’m not just talking about the nearly 8,000 subscribers!!).
It’s become a place where publicists discover editorial opportunities, brands learn how journalists think, writers stay connected to the media industry, and sources find stories they never would have known about otherwise.
In other words, it’s become exactly what happens every day in a newsroom:
The new name better reflects what this publication has become—and where it’s headed.
What isn’t changing?
You’ll still find:

Media insights and observations from more than 26 years as a journalist and 9 years as a full-time freelancer.
Practical advice to help you build stronger relationships with journalists and earn more meaningful media coverage.
The occasional behind-the-scenes look at life on assignment.
In the months ahead, you’ll also see a few new ideas and features roll out as I continue growing the publication. (Don’t worry—I promise the source requests aren’t going anywhere.)
