The Imposter Cycle

Have you ever found yourself giving a client exactly the advice they needed, only to have a little voice in your head whisper, "Who am I to be saying this?"

Or maybe you've crafted the perfect Instagram caption about owning your worth... while simultaneously wondering if you should lower your prices because "who would pay that much to work with me?"

Awkward, right?

If you're nodding along, you're experiencing what I call The Imposter Cycle – that frustrating loop where you know what to do but something keeps blocking you from fully embodying it.

Here's what's actually happening: Your heart and mind are having a disagreement.

Your heart knows:

  • You're genuinely gifted at transformation work

  • Your unique approach creates real results

  • You've helped clients achieve meaningful breakthroughs

  • You deserve to be seen, valued, and well-compensated

But your mind believes:

  • You need one more certification to be "ready"

  • Other coaches/healers know more than you do

  • Your success so far might have been luck

  • Charging more might mean you're taking advantage of people

This misalignment creates a constant tug-of-war inside you. And guess what happens when your heart and mind are facing off against each other?

Nothing. Or at least nothing that feels aligned and flowing.

This pattern shows up in such predictable ways that I can literally map it out. See if this cycle sounds familiar:

You feel a genuine calling to step up, raise your rates, launch a new program, or become more visible. Your heart is leading the way with excitement and clarity! You start taking action, and it feels amazing.

Just as you're gaining momentum, your mind kicks in with all its "rational" concerns. "Who do you think you are? You're not ready for this. What will people think? You're going to fail and everyone will know." This isn't just random negativity – it's your mind trying to protect you from what it perceives as danger.

To resolve the uncomfortable tension between heart and mind, you retreat to what feels safe. Maybe you:

  • Decide to get "just one more" certification before you're ready

  • Lower your prices or offer unnecessary discounts

  • Put off launching your program until it's "perfect"

  • Hide behind endless planning instead of taking aligned action

Now you're stuck in a painful space where you know what you should be doing, but you're not doing it. You keep teaching concepts you're not fully embodying. You feel increasingly like an imposter, which just reinforces the cycle.

And then, eventually, your heart will surge with inspiration again... and around we go.

The solution isn't to push harder or to ignore your mind's concerns. It's to bring your heart and mind into alignment.

This isn't about positive thinking or forcing yourself to "feel confident." It's about recognizing that both your heart's wisdom and your mind's concerns serve important purposes – they just need to be working together instead of opposing each other.

When alignment happens, it's not that the doubts completely disappear. It's that they no longer control your actions because your heart and mind have found common ground.

One of my clients (let's call her "Vera") experienced this cycle for years around her pricing. She was offering her energy healing sessions for free or through trades because her mind kept insisting she "wasn't good enough yet" to charge money.

Meanwhile, her heart knew the profound transformation her clients were experiencing. When we aligned her heart's knowing with her mind's need for validation, something beautiful happened. She not only started charging for her services, but discovered that her clients actually experienced more powerful results when they invested financially. She shared how clients expressed joy in being able to pay for her value – it completed the energy exchange and deepened their commitment to their own healing.

That's the magic of alignment – it creates solutions that neither heart nor mind could reach alone.

Start by simply noticing when your heart and mind are in conflict. Don't try to force either one to change – just become aware of the tug-of-war.

Ask yourself:

  • What does my heart know to be true about my gifts and value?

  • What is my mind concerned about, and what is it trying to protect me from?

  • Where did I learn these limiting beliefs that my mind is holding onto?

Just creating awareness of the misalignment is powerful. When you can name what's happening, you've already begun to shift it.

I'm genuinely curious: Where are you experiencing the Imposter Cycle right now in your practice? Is it around visibility, pricing, program creation, or something else entirely?

What's the specific message your heart knows to be true, and what's the contradicting belief your mind is holding onto?

Drop a comment below – I read and respond to every one. Your sharing not only helps you gain clarity but also shows other transformation experts they're not alone in this experience.

Because here's the truth: The Imposter Cycle isn't a sign that you're not ready or not good enough. It's simply feedback that your heart and mind are ready for deeper alignment – and that's exactly what we'll be exploring together in this space.

✨ Here's to bringing your heart and mind into harmony so you can fully embody the transformation expert you already are!
