August, the season of bounty. A time to reflect on what we’ve been cultivating and savor the fullness of summer before it fades away.
Leo season has always felt like warmth to me. A renewed commitment to what I love.
In Human Design, the season moves through six archetypal energies: storytelling, influence, reflection, guidance, understanding, and commitment. Together, they invite us to digest our experiences, discover what matters, and recommit to what feels most true.
The Sun spends a few days in each gate, moving through this storyline:
Gate 56: What experiences have shaped me?
Gate 31: What do I have to say that others might benefit from?
Gate 33: What needs reflection before it’s shared?
Gate 7: How can I guide rather than control?
Gate 4: What understanding has emerged?
Gate 29: What is truly worth committing myself to from here?
I’ve found myself sitting in these questions this month and perhaps you are too.
Maybe it was celebrating my beautiful friend’s 40th birthday last weekend, surrounded by women flowing in maxi dresses, sipping cacao, singing songs together at a park overlooking the ocean in the afternoon light.
Or maybe it’s my summer tan, the golden afternoons we’ve been having in San Francisco, or the fact that my long hair has been twisted into a messy braid all season.
Whatever it is, I’ve been feeling more grounded. And I’ve noticed my eye gravitating toward pieces that carry the same feeling.
Rich artisanal patterns. Washed indigo. Dusty rose. Olive. Faded turquoise. Cream. Embroidery. Beading. Flowing silhouettes. Rich brown leather. Sun-faded florals.
Luxury bohemian, if that’s such a thing. I’m craving pieces that feel handcrafted. The kind that look as though someone made them slowly, or collected them over years of wandering through places like Spain, Mexico, and Italy.
What I love most is styling these free-spirited silhouettes with beautifully crafted accessories—a feminine Gucci bag, rich leather, or jewelry with natural stones.
It’s the contrast that makes it feel personal. Romantic, but grounded. Relaxed, but intentional.
Patchwork Shirt Dress- I've been wanting to try something from Julia Amory's collection, and this might be the one (or this one if I had somewhere to wear it). I love the ease of an empire-waist silhouette paired with the beautiful color harmony—it feels romantic, effortless, and collected.
Open Knit Sweater- The perfect transitional piece: a soft knit with an open texture that feels cozy without feeling heavy.
Gucci Pink Bree Bag- One of the newest arrivals in my vintage collection. I love this style because it balances beauty with practicality—the perfect everyday bag with a sturdy, functional shape.
Gucci Heart Bag- One of my personal favorites currently available in my vintage collection. This early 2000s style is incredibly rare, featuring a leather heart patch that gives it that playful, unexpected feeling I love about vintage.
Blue Border Button Maxi- After being surprised by the quality of a Marine Layer dress I bought earlier this summer, I've been keeping an eye on their pieces. This one immediately caught my attention—the color, shape, and ease feel very much like the mood I'm craving right now.
Golden Maxi Skirt- Always a fan of an elastic-waist maxi skirt. The golden tones feel lived in and warm, perfect for late summer. Maybe with a silky tank?
Prada Raffia Clutch- The texture makes this one special and instantly elevates any outfit.
White Stone Earrings- A simple drop style that feels feminine without being overly delicate.
Heart Hoops- I've been drawn to drop earrings lately after finding a vintage pair for myself earlier this summer with my birthstone. These have that same playful, personal feeling.
Turquoise Paisley Top- This silhouette has become one of my favorites this summer. The turquoise is such a rich color and would look beautiful paired with both black and crisp white.
Indigo Maxi Dress- I've loved this Australian brand since discovering it a few years ago. This dress feels like the essence of earthy luxury—relaxed, beautifully made, and easy to live in. And on sale too!
Strappy Sandals- My most-worn sandal this summer …now eyeing in this rich dark espresso brown.
Prada Woven Madras Clutch- This incredibly rare woven leather bag feels like something discovered while wandering through a market abroad—the kind of piece that gives an outfit a story.
Pink Tie Dye Dress- Another favorite from an Australian brand I love. The print feels playful and nostalgic while still feeling elevated. Speaking of Aussie labels, this one is gorg too.
Green Boho Top- Zoom in on the details of this one—the craftsmanship is on point.
May August’s version of abundance be about choosing what feels deeply resonant and softening into it.
