I saw the comment before he deleted it.
Yes, I know. A grown woman lying in bed thinking about a sentence that was not even there anymore. Very normal. haha.
But I was.
I had posted the story about the dress. The one he barely looked up at. The one I bought for no reason and wore anyway because apparently some part of me is still stubborn enough to buy beautiful things even when I have nowhere to wear them.
Most of the comments were sweet.
A few men said exactly what I knew they would.
I would have noticed.
Of course I smiled.
How could I not??
A woman can spend years pretending she does not care if anyone looks at her anymore, and then one man says he would have noticed the dress and suddenly she is smiling at her phone like an idiot.
So, yes. I liked those comments.
Then one came in late.
The house was dark. I was already in bed, half asleep and doing the thing I always tell myself not to do, which is checking my phone one last time.
The notification lit up.
I almost left it until morning.
Then I saw the first line.
I would have noticed the dress.
I reached for my phone.
There was more underneath it.
Some of us spend years wishing a woman would still want to be seen by us too.
I read it twice.
Then I tapped the notification.
Gone.
I actually refreshed the page.
Still gone.
