What Do You Think?

I’ve talked to you about doing our histhtadlut, our effort in the quest for finding and funding our purpose. We have to do the work of making vessels, opening windows, co-creating opportunities . It’s crazy to think about, but I’ve been getting in front of International audiences for over 30 years! I’ve been talking to and writing for media since there were three major networks and through the creation of every content creation economy. I’ve had the absolute honor to coach hundreds of executives and individuals through moments that matter whether a merger of companies, goals or lives.

As a professional keynote speaker, I had a $20,000 sizzle reel. Websites! (Too many.) One sheets. Topic outlines. I collected video, audio and print recommendations from Very Impressive People. I had a clear value proposition and measurable deliverables.

And then a bunch of rabid jihadists broke into my homeland to rape, mutilate and burn our babies. And the very next day, when our farms and its cattle were still on fire, when terrorists still roamed door to door in our neighborhoods, when our girls, so many, were taken, missing, broken, when the colleagues I had work side-by-side with for years looked the other way, rationalized and contextualized…I became irrevocably changed.

No longer would I be Gavriella to friends and family and Gail for work. I couldn’t find my care to evaluate five year value based capitated payments. And, as you know, I quickly decided that not another day would go by when I didn’t wake up and go to sleep in the land of my inheritance. And when I loaded up my five suitcases weighing 32 kilos or less onto a one way flight from NY to TLV, I didn’t have much of a plan.

I needed to be here to give hugs and ladle soup. I figured I would work out the work thing. And it’s been messy and imperfectly perfect but I’ve made a life for myself here. And this week I realized that I’m coming up on two years since that flight plan.

It’s time for me to come back for a few weeks and work and share and connect in person. Typically these speaker trips are anchored around one of two major keynotes planned months in advance; and then we let our audiences know and fill in with smaller venues. So it’s time for me to do the work of connecting and reconnecting with conference organizers, speaker’s bureaus and corporate training peeps.

Here’s my draft of the basic document - my “one sheet.” Can you take a look and let me know what you think? And if you or your spouse or that guy you always bump into at the local Starbucks are planners, advisors or really opinionated neighbors of someone who hires witty and inspiring speakers who look fantastic for their age—maybe you could pass my name on.
