I’m writing this from really rainy Charleston. The weather is cozy and making me want to sit down and write - always a good thing! - but it’s also making me drag a little. It’s supposed to stay cloudy but at least stop raining this afternoon so I’m planning to take the boys to the pool to get lots of wiggles out. I also bought cherries to make a homemade cherry crisp (from our summer recipe database!) with my boys to keep things feeling bright and summery, despite the weather. Also, I’m not ready for school to start. That’s all!

The First Day of School but Make it Fun, Like Really Fun. The first day of school is so exciting for kids but also often brings butterflies for our little ones. A really easy way to channel any anxiety into excitement is to make the morning (or even night before too!) really special with things like party crowns. Turn it into a celebration! A New Etsy Shop to Save. One of my dearest girlfriends is an incredibly talented artist and runs an Etsy shop on the side called HatchCoveDesigns. She does custom chests, milestone cards, holiday cards, custom maps, custom venue or house illustrations, and more.

My Favorite Artist in Charleston. My most favorite artist in the world is Claude Monet. I’ve come to know, learn about, and love so many other renowned and lesser known artists in my life, some whose work I love possibly just as much, but Monet will forever be my favorite because, as a little girl, his work was the first I connected with in an emotional way. I saw his work and a love of art history was born. He ignited that spark in me as a child. So, he takes the cake. Our small but MIGHTY art museum in Charleston, The Gibbes Museum, is marking the Centennial of his passing with a special exhibition featuring three extraordinary landscape paintings by the beloved French Impressionist. Go see it (through Oct 25th). Take your kids or your parents or your friends.
You Saw the Pascual Jacket in Caspian Blue, too? Okay Good. Just Making Sure. Dôen launched pre-fall and it got me quite a bit excited for what’s to come. That caspian blue jacket is just soooo good. Here are my 5 favorites:
I cannot wait to wear this jacket. It’s the first thing that has made me actually inspired to dress for fall (a hard job right now because I’m downright loving summer).
I can’t put my finger on it exactly but this long sleeve tee is so cute to me - the yummy ribbed cotton, the sweet grosgrain ribbon juxtaposed against the more tomboy style henley design - I want to wear it all day and sleep in it too.

My New Shoe Discovery. I love a visit to Plain Goods during our time in Connecticut every summer because I always come away with a new discovery. This year, it was the really cute + affordable shoe brand, Moonstar. I bought these kind of sneaker, kind of ballet flat shoes with the sweetest bows on them home with me.
All of the Joy. None of the Work. I saw this cute business on Instagram, OOO Goody, and wanted to share - they make adorable limited-release bundles for holidays, birthdays, seasons, and more for kiddos. The brand name is what got me to click over on Instagram. Doesn’t get cuter.
