Jessie Randall · Jessie Loves

Twenty-three (!) years ago I took my very first trip to Italy on my honeymoon with Brian. We went to the island of Capri where I learned I had been pronouncing it wrong my whole life and we had the most inspiring and lovely week. This is the first time I’m going back there since and I cannot wait.

Because there are no cars, and I will be lugging my own suitcase up the funicular and down the narrow stone paths, I am only able to bring a carry-on.

I want to create outfits that are fun, distinctive, and will work for fancy dinners and casual times too + shoes for all that walking.

Here’s a list of everything I’m packing:

1. These silk bias-cut pants in chocolate brown look as great with a tee shirt as with a fancy top. They have an elastic waist so they have the feeling of fancy sweatpants but look super elegant.

2. It’s going to be hot, and space in my suitcase is tight, so I took matters into my own hands and hemmed this gorgeous butter yellow dress to be super short — a chic mini.

3. I also asked my friend Erin to make this small bag that just holds a phone in a custom color for me.

4. These sandals (of course).

5. My tried-and-true bikini.

6. This tee shirt dress is that perfect balance of casual, stylish, and fun. It comes with a built in polka dot scarf! Plus it packs down super tiny.

7. These strappy low heels for our special dinner out to celebrate our anniversary.

8. These yellow pants will be good for shopping and also for travel days.

9. A flowy gingham top.

10. The essential cashmere cardigan.

11. This wow skirt! If I can cram it in my suitcase — it’s quite billowy.

12. A crochet shift dress.

13. I rarely wear jewelry but I like to wear these “candy necklaces” when I’m on vacation.

14. The cute Hermes scarf Brian got me years ago to wear as a pareo.

15. The perfect white tee shirt.

16. This wow top! It goes with everything I’m bringing.

17. The giant bow mini skirt I always bring. I found it on The Real Real here.

18. Comfiest flip flops for the beach.

19. A packable beach bag.

20. My favorite sunglasses.

21. The best vintage-look jean shorts.

22. These block-print pants I just got!

23. The best travel tote.

I can’t wait to spend the week in the sun with good gelato and sweet little shops. Anything in Capri I can’t miss? Would love your recs!

Five Things I’m Loving This Week:

1. I recently spent the day with my friend Maya from Jack’s Wife Freda shooting for her new cookbook in my kitchen (designed by the amazing Zoë Feldman). How gorgeous is Maya in her polka dots? I had the most fun putting the table together and arranging the flowers for this shoot.

2. I’m quite pleased with how my little needlepoint shop sign is coming along. I worked on it sitting in the audience of a recent Substack panel. Can we normalize needlepointing during meetings? I think that is much less rude than being on your phone.

3. After seeing this vintage color Le Creuset at the home where we stayed at Blackberry Farm, I am now on the hunt for vintage pots and pans in this exact color. Does anyone know what this color is called?

4. My husband had these weird bagtags made for each member of our family. Yes, he has me listed in his phone as “Jess-a-lama-ding-dong” for some unknown reason. I love the wacky colors he chose.

5. My coworker got me these plastic folios that I am now obsessed with, especially for keeping travel documents (and cross stitch projects) all in one place.

And One Thing I Hate:

The glugging sound of water being poured out of a bottle or carafe. Totally like nails on a chalkboard to me. Makes me feel violently ill.
