Two words. Facebook Marketplace. I truly can’t believe the listings my office has shown me on there. In fact, my Art Director once found the sink from Nate and my former townhouse listed for thousands less than it’s worth. It gutted me. But I’m excited for whoever’s home it lives in now.

What has living in Portugal taught you?

To slow down.

Hey Jeremiah, what’s your one piece of advice for a designer deciding to go out on their own?

At the beginning, you should be saying yes as often as you can.
$5,000 budget? Say yes.
A dentist’s office? Say yes.

You’ll learn so much along the way and eventually grow into your dream clientele.

Hi — I just wanted to say thank you. Watching the way you listen and create space for people has influenced me more than I expected. It’s helped me become more empathetic and connect with others in ways I didn’t think I could. I first noticed you years ago on The Rachel Zoe Project, but recently I’ve watched almost everything — Nate & Jeremiah: Save My House in particular really impacted me. Intentionality seems to show up in your design philosophy and the way you talk about family. Is that a guiding principle for you? And if so, what practices help you live intentionally in everyday life?

That means so much to me. Truly. After years in television, the only thing I really hope people remember is to live empathetically and intentionally. It’s absolutely a guiding principle for me. In design and in life. I build rhythms that protect what matters — quiet mornings, dinner at home, time with my family.

Hi, I’m from Taiwan. Thank you for the perspective you’ve shared through your work. It’s been genuinely inspiring. Your tattoos feel very intentional. Do they mark moments you wanted to remember or moments you didn’t want to forget?

They’re mostly symbolic. Many revolve around my family. Some reflect chapters in my life. Some represent grounding principles.

What is your favorite quote you live by? What is the meaning of your new tattoo( sword with goathead). Did you ever met a contestant you did not like on a tv show? Did you lose friends because they just wanted to be your friend because you are around famous people including yourself? This one sounds very weird but i always wondered what height you are lol. What is the biggest lesson you learned before turning 40? Do you have dreams for the near future. Like expand your business to Europe?

Where to begin! I’ll answer a few.

Favorite quote? “Be smart enough to know what you don’t know.” I’ve never met a hero I didn’t like — but I’ve worked with heroes I’ve disagreed with. 6 ft… minus 4 inches. And yes — many dreams. Some (like the one you mentioned) are already coming to life.

Where is your favorite place (city, hotel, country - could be anything on earth) to visit? Where are the places, other than where you currently live, that feel like home?

Venice, Italy. It’s one of the first places I traveled to that left a lasting impression on me. Its beauty lies in its inconvenience — it’s a city you can only navigate by foot or by boat. It forces you to slow.

What is your favourite dish(s) to make? Also what do you do to manage the stress of a busy life, so you are able to focus and be present with your family?

I make a mean bolognese. And chocolate chip cookies from my mom’s recipe.

My two non-negotiables?

Waking up early so I can reset on my own — a pot of coffee, quiet emails, writing down my thoughts. It’s one of the most important parts of my day. And dinner time. I keep my schedule so I always make it home in time for dinner with the kids.

Hi Jeremiah! I’d love to know what’s been a significant homemaking experience in your life so far?

I’ll never forget my first studio apartment in Los Angeles. The feeling of having a space that was just mine — regardless of its condition — was everything to me. More on this in next week’s essay.

I look to my children. They are the light. They are the reason. They’re a constant reminder of who I am at my best — and where my greatest priorities lie.

Any pointed advice or good-to-knows for someone scared shitless about starting their own design business? only looking to carve out a lil niche… and very much not knowing where to start.

Hire someone who thinks entirely differently than you. You need that push and pull. That tension is where excellence is born — and how you stay ahead of the unexpected.

What’s one project you’re dying to work on?

A hotel. One day! Architecture. Interiors. Furniture. Linens. Scent. The perfect expression of the five senses.

Our late friend, James Brown. His home is featured in a chapter of my book The Space That Keeps You. Visiting Portugal? Wander the streets of Lisbon. As simple as that.

Staying curious. Even when something catches me off guard — I ask myself, why didn’t that work? What do I need to learn here? It centers me in discovery instead of fear. Everything then becomes an opportunity to understand yourself and your business more deeply.
