Hello! I’m pleased to share with you my newest crochet pattern published for free.

Aveline is a relaxed granny square shrug cardigan made from just six oversized granny squares. With simple fold-and-seam construction and no complicated shaping, it’s an enjoyable project to make and a lightweight layer that’s easy to wear.

This has been one of those designs that I played with quite a bit – from the size of the squares to how many squares to get the drape and structure I wanted. I’m so happy with how it finally came together to create the relaxed cocoon shape, and I can’t wait to see the colours you choose. 😊

As mentioned, this is now free on the blog and I’m celebrating with a promotion via Ravelry (free PDF) for subscribers.

The promotion for my Aveline cardigan is running from today (8th August 2026) for the first 75 downloads. Once the 75 patterns have been claimed, the code will no longer work.

You’ll need to visit the pattern on my blog (link below) and once on the pattern, click on the image that says ‘Free Ravelry Download Click here to Redeem the Code.’ You’ll be taken to ‘Redeem a Coupon Code’ on Ravelry. Click ‘use this coupon’ to be taken to the shopping basket on Ravelry. Click ‘check out now.’ Don’t check out unless it is showing zero!

Please note, I’m not able to send the pattern directly.

Clicking on the link below will take you to the pattern on my blog.

  • Throw size: approximately 135 cm / 53” wide by 160 cm / 63” long

  • Lapghan size: approximately 110 cm / 43.25” wide by 137 cm / 54” long

Perfect for using up leftover cotton yarn, the Sandrine summer scarf is publishing on the blog for free later this month (currently only available on Etsy). I’ll be in touch on 22nd August 2026

  • The Fall Into Crochet blog hop is starting on 1st September and runs until 30th September (I’ll be in touch when I have the event link). My day on the hop is 7th and I’ll send a reminder on that day. It’s a new pattern you won’t have seen before 😊 All patterns in this hop are free (PDFs) on the designer’s day. If you don’t want to hang around each day for the next pattern, all the patterns will also be available to buy in one bundle. I know you’re going to love this hop – there is such a variety of projects!

  • There will be 1 more pattern release for me later on in September – I haven’t made my mind up yet which one (but I will by 22nd August!).

I’m still working on the mosaic blanket and in-between, I’m working on a baby blanket.

Are you crocheting? Do you work on smaller projects through the summer?

And the sunshine and heat continue … my son Alfie (still at home) has just bought an Aircon unit for his bedroom, tempted to base myself there haha.

We haven’t been anywhere near the beach or water as Clover injured his dew claw (which the vet removed) and the advice was to stay away from sand, river bacteria etc for a couple of weeks. It’s healed beautifully (and the claw grew back before a week had passed!). We’re tentatively planning to go to the beach tonight – so lucky to have options like this only a couple of miles away!

Here he is in our garden keeping his eyes on what Pete’s up to 😊

Heads up, I’m planning on sending an email on Monday or Tuesday afternoon (BST time) with an exciting resource that will help you to bypass stolen, AI/fake patterns. No more time or money wasted …

Hope your life is peaceful with plenty of laughter and love.

Shaz 🌸
