Things that brought me joy this week

How is everyone doing? It feels so good to be back here. I have had a glorious 2 weeks off-grid, catching my tail and stepping back inside my body. This summer has been so gorgeous and full on, so it felt great to take some breathing space and not put pressure on myself. I also had time to fully enjoy the last few weeks before the back to school hustle begins.

I wrote a little more on this for the weekends dispatch which will be with you all on Sunday. But for now, let’s get straight to it, here are the things that brought me joy over the last two weeks.

BOY BLUE

Ceramic man that everyone loves, Henry Holland has released a new line of colanders, pots and butter dishes to fawn over. I will take one of everything please.

THE NEXT GENERATION

Love hearing Darina Allen speak about the power of food, and the influence we have over our children when it comes to making better choices for the greater good. I don’t think we fully understand just how fragile our food security is, or how much pressure our farmers are under to sustain their crops, livelihoods and businesses. The good news is that, collectively, we have the power to change that. Every individual has a voice, and we should use it.

SMALL MOMENTS

As a kid I would love sitting in the back seat of the car as we drove across Ireland and looking out the window at the passing towns. This video sums up that feeling and the feeling of the last of the sunny summer evenings before autumn sets in.

RABBIT HOLE

This is deeply satisfying to watch - I mean the level of detail and insane ideas are next level. I used to organise and style brand events so can truly appreciate the time spent on these mini works of art.

NANCY MEYERS

Sharing pics of her office. Working on her next movie. Does it get any better? That of course was a rhetorical question.

BACK TO SCHOOL

The back to school feeling is peak right now. New clothes hanging up and ready, new water bottles, stationery and lunchboxes all in their rightful place. If only it all stayed looking this clean and new for longer than 5 minutes after they get their mitts on it all.

I was unbelievably lucky to have been gifted a beautiful print by Niamh Moran for the article I wrote on Art for the home, reframed - and I finally got around to having it properly framed. I handed it over to the very trusty hands of Jane at Fox Framing, who did a wonderful job complementing the frame to the print. It is now in its rightful place in my daughter’s room, which still needs wallpaper and a few other bits, but here is a little snippet. Her own artwork on the walls makes me smile every day.
