Jenni Gwiazdowski · Spanner in the Works

We live in a hyper capitalist system that forces us to peddle our wares and words in order to survive, while it sucks up our attention and crushes our souls. The awareness of this makes me feel like I am perpetuating and also approving of this system if I peddle my wares and words (I am fighting to keep my soul though. Some days I lose.) My trained reaction is that I keep myself small and don’t tell anyone about anything. Nothing changes, no one hears about the things I do, but most of all, no one can benefit. Well, someone benefits: The Man.

However, I also do not believe in false dichotomies, black & white, or dogmatic thinking. We humans contain multitudes and contradictions - AND THAT’S OKAY. In fact, it’s more than ok - it’s human. I am allowed to tell you about my goods + services, I’m allowed to say that I am proud of my goods + services, and I would not sell these things if I didn’t think they were good and provided a much needed service.

I work a part-time job 3 days a week and I have to pay for rent/bills/food. So here is a portion of my goods + services:

Yes, friends - How to Build a Bike is now only available through me (via my partner’s bike shop), thanks to my boring anti-bike publishers. You can read more about that story here:

  • Signed copies available

  • Pick up for free at either London Velodrome (Lee Valley or Herne Hill)

  • UK postage & packing £5

  • International postage & packing £15

BUY MY BOOK

I am continuing 1:1 saddle fittings at Herne Hill Velodrome on Sundays. I have fit hundreds of people, and the vast majority have found saddles that work for them. I also teach you how to use tools and how to adjust your saddle and seat post, giving you the knowledge (and power!) to make your ride more comfortable.

We will spend around 1.5 hrs for your first fitting and:

  • discuss your issues

  • measure your sit bones

  • measure your hip rotation

  • test out 3-4 saddles to find out which shape your body gravitates towards

You will then be able to “check out” a saddle for 2 weeks to see if it’s The One. If not, bring it back and we’ll select something else to try for another 2 weeks.

The £95 one-off payment goes towards Herne Hill Velodrome, but I do get paid for my extra time working.

"This was a fun experience which offered the chance to try before you buy - an increasingly rare possibility these days, but very important for saddles. Jenni is really friendly, supportive and it was a worthwhile learning process itself, not to mention the main outcome of getting a new, more comfortable saddle.”

I will be peddling more wares soon: a final sale of all the LBK merch left. Think t-shirts, caps, Voile straps, and bidons.

In the meantime, I hope you’ve registered to vote, and I’ll see you at the ballot box on Thursday. Reform are racists, Labour are liars - Vote Green! 💚

Ride on,

Jenni
