The Sneaky Misconception of Abortion

It seems the bulk of Kamala Harris’ campaign messaging involves backing “Women’s Rights,” a cause that many on the left get up in arms about. Never mind that Trump has no intention of taking away these so-called “rights”, or that some of those on the left can’t even define what a “woman” is.

The funny thing about labeling an intentionally terminated pregnancy a “woman’s right” is that it then becomes a seemingly worthy cause with a coin phrase so catchy it reverberates in the echo chamber without much thought.

Do women want their rights protected? Sure. Is that what’s at stake with abortion? No ma’am.

You see, I, a woman, do not consider abortion to be my right, no more than I would consider it my right to murder. And, to be sure, abortion is, in its simplest form, murder (a human taking away another human’s life).

I mean, technically, I could decide to murder someone. You could even say, if I was being attacked, that it was within my right to do so. But even then, I’d probably just shoot the guy in the foot or something. Human life is precious. When did we whither it away to a campaign slogan?

The anthem “a woman’s right to choose” is misleading. If we were to bring the truth of that statement into the light, what they’d be actually be shouting from the rooftops is “a woman has the right to choose to murder her baby!” Which wouldn’t be as catchy, but would undoubtedly be more accurate.

I get it. That cluster of cells takes up space inside the mother’s womb (most of the time without asking — so rude!), but this is not the embryo’s choice any more than it was the mother’s choice to be inside her mother’s womb. No, my friends, this is the gift. The miracle.

That a woman would be so kind as to offer, to the best of her ability, a safe, temporary residence to a person she’s never met. If you break it down like that, you’d think the left would be behind it with their open borders policies and such.

Alas — as they say, “my body, my choice!”, another catch phrase that seems to make sense, unless we’re talking about getting experimental vaccines. Then it’s, “your body, my choice! Otherwise I’ll judge you, take away your job, livelihood, and relationships!” Article for another day?

While some women may claim abortion to be their “right”, have we paused to consider the rights of the unborn? Perhaps, when you are with child, it’s not just your body anymore, it’s not just your choice.

You see, you either have life growing inside you, or you don’t. It doesn’t matter how small the start, or when the heart starts beating, or when the tiny ball takes the shape of a baby. It doesn’t matter if there are ten fingers yet, or ten toes. There’s either a miracle taking shape, or regular Uterine functioning. No time stamp of a developing baby changes this fact or makes the life less-so.

The fact that we’ve diluted the messaging of abortion so much, and packaged it in that seemingly noble wording, is precisely why many women make this decision without taking into account the gravity of it, and the significance of its long-term consequences.

It’s also why women are spearheading the very thing that allows men to get away with consequence-free sex. How clever of them to get us to fight this fight.

Do we even want to talk about how we got here? Yes, the birds and the bees. Typically, two consenting adults make an active choice to engage in an activity that has a chance of bringing about a life.

Let’s put aside the unconsenting sex argument for a moment — abortion in that instance is nuanced, though still, the ending of a life which shouldn’t be taken lightly.

The same, yes, if the mother’s life is at stake. In that instance, the right to abortion is protected and going nowhere.

No, the focus here is on the consenting adults, the ones who intentionally had sex, who brought upon an unintended or unwanted pregnancy.

Is there not a demand for accountability there? Society has watered down sex so much we’ve forgotten it’s primary purpose — procreation. Proponents of the sexual revolution fought for sex outside of marriage, sex on demand, sex without boundaries, consequences, or commitment.

But, the baby that sometimes comes with it? To that they say, “No thanks, let’s undo that mistake. Take this pill. Go see that doctor. Head over to Planned Parenthood for some supportive literature on the topic.”

”We’re here to help you take away the consequences of your actions,” say those in favor of abortion. “Have sex — for free! At the cost of a human life.”

Will they sit with you beforehand and tell you that the choice you’re about to make will have lasting effects on your mind, body, and soul? Will they show you your baby on the ultrasound so you can meet the little life you’re about to take? Will they admit that some people who make that decision come to regret it in later years?

Or do they wake up — help you ctrl+z that pregnancy — and let you carry on with the frivolity of sex at your whim?

And let’s talk about men for a minute. Do they have any rights in this? After all, they are a contributing party with a 50% stake in the life that’s forming, no? Why is it okay for a woman to not even inform a father about the life that he is equally invested in creating?

If both parties are sane and competent, an abortion should require two signatures before taking place. If one parent wants the baby, the baby stays. Sorry that this is at the inconvenience of taking place in a woman’s body, but, my girl, you consented to the possibility of that when you did the deed.

There are consequences to our actions. Yours will likely come at the cost of some stretch marks. Until those men that identify as women can find a way to reproduce, us real life women will have to carry that torch. Buyer beware — frivolous sex isn’t always so frivolous.

A life is at stake. And it could have been yours as much as mine if our mother’s decided to abort.

So Kamala, if this article ever makes its way to you, go ahead and take up your cross. Defend “women’s rights” as your campaign cornerstone. But know that I see through the emptiness of your messaging. Indeed everything about it is soulless — and the accuracy of that word does not escape me.

Taking souls is precisely the cause you’ve put your name behind.

Don’t worry, if Trump gets in office, he won’t take away your right to choose that. Abortion has become so socially accepted it would be campaign suicide to speak out fully against it. The states will have a right to choose, just as they continued to have a right to choose after the overturning of Roe v. Wade.

And California, where you’re from, Kamala, and where I live, will continue to allow you to abort until the fetus is viable.

Funny you’re basing a key point of your campaign on the right to keep a “right” that isn’t even being taken away — but maybe if you say it loud enough and enough times, people will think it is.

After all, that’s the Clinton-Obama-Biden-Harris way.

And I say that having voted for two of those four at one point in time. Funny how we evolve and, if we’re lucky, wake up over time.

Yes, my friends, many of our rights are at stake in this election. But not the ones the Harris-Walz administration would have you think.
