I’m thrilled to announce the release of my latest book, Stranger Things: Starcourt Mall Escape, an official Stranger Things novel!

Explore Hawkins with fan-favorite character Eleven in a story set during the summer of 1985. Eleven, feeling trapped by her overprotective father, teams up with Max to escape to the all-new Starcourt Mall. Will midnight movies and an overnight party in the food court solve their problems, or lead to new troubles with ghosts of the past?

ABOUT THE BOOK: Explore Hawkins with fan-favorite character Eleven in a novel based on the iconic Netflix series Stranger Things.

It’s summer vacation, and everyone in Hawkins has plans—everyone except Eleven. She feels trapped by her overprotective father and wants to break out and find a normal teen life like she sees in her magazines. Luckily, Eleven’s not alone. Her friend Max needs to flee a troubling home life and an increasingly dangerous older brother. They decide to escape together, and in Hawkins in the summer of 1985, there is only one place to go: the all-new Starcourt Mall. Will midnight movies and an overnight party in the food court be the solution to their problems? Or will Eleven and Max discover that a little freedom can lead to a lot of trouble, and that the ghosts of the past are never far away? Filled with details from Netflix’s series Stranger Things, this novel explores Hawkins—and Eleven’s place in it—like never before.

  1. Honor the Source Material: Stay true to the characters’ voices and the world’s established rules to resonate with fans.

  2. Find Fresh Angles: Add new stories or perspectives (like Eleven’s summer escape taking place between Seasons 2 and 3) to expand the universe while respecting its core.

  3. Collaborate Closely: Work with the IP holders to ensure authenticity and alignment with the franchise’s vision.

  4. Balance Canon and Creativity: Weave in familiar details and characters(e.g., Starcourt Mall) while introducing original plot points to keep it engaging.

  5. Know Your Audience: Cater to both die-hard fans and new readers by blending nostalgia with accessible storytelling.

  6. Deadlines: Be prepared to write on crazy deadlines! Often, this means drafting a whole book in a month or two.

  7. Outlines: Get really good at outlining because often you have to go through many approval processes and there isn't a lot of time for revision work. Outlines help everyone sign off and get on the same page before you start drafting.

  8. Adapt to Feedback: Be open to multiple rounds of notes from IP holders and editors, and learn to adjust your work while preserving your voice—flexibility is key in this collaborative process.

Mark your calendars—Namaste & Slay: My New Dark Thriller / Dark Romance drops a week before Stranger Things: Starcourt Mall Escape, making for a busy October! The second book in my Sacrifice series is also out… with a third book coming in 2026!
