For Voddie

As shocking as it is to believe, Voddie Baucham passed away earlier today.

According to Founders Ministries:

Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. – Psalm 116:15

We are saddened to inform friends that our dear brother, Voddie Baucham, Jr., has left the land of the dying and entered the land of the living. Earlier today, after suffering an emergency medical incident, he entered into his rest and the immediate presence of the Savior whom he loved, trusted, and served since he was converted as a college student. Please pray for Bridget, their children, and grandchildren.

Voddie will be sorely missed. But as he said of his own death,

“You are going to hear a rumor one day that Voddie Baucham is no more. Don’t you believe it! Don’t you believe it! Don’t you believe it! Because though I die, I will rise with Christ! It will not be the end of me. Because Christ IS raised and I, too, will be raised with Christ! That is why is called the ‘Firstborn from the dead.’ Folks, you don’t talk about ‘firstborn’ unless there’s others who are born after him. Don’t you pity me. You pity the one who want to hold to Jesus without holding on to the resurrection. You pity the one who has absolutely no hope because they have no resurrected Christ.”

When I had the opportunity to hear Voddie preach two years ago, his message was Do Not Love the World from 1 John 2:15-17. It is a fitting word for today: “In this message, Dr. Voddie Baucham reminds us of our call to stand against the world when we are called to compromise and considers how we may do this by developing a Christian worldview, recognizing the errors of worldly philosophies, and committing ourselves to the community of believers in the church.”

I am convinced now more than ever, as our generals fall, new warriors must answer the call. We admired and learned so much from those who have passed on such as John MacArthur, James Dobson, Charlie Kirk, and Voddie Baucham, among others.

We may not be as gifted to preach and teach as Voddie was but God has gifted and equipped each one us.

Complacency and passivity must end. Now is the time to get activated and use our gifts.

For Voddie. For Christ and His eternal kingdom.
