A quick hello to share a track I learned, or tried to learn, by Star Moles, which is Emily Moales’s project. She’s part of the Historic New Jersey Recordings group of folks making all kinds of cool records. Rubber Band Gun, Sam and Louise Sullivan, Hot Machine ... they’re all doing cool stuff. I’m always happy to see such a vibrant music-making group of friends.

I love Star Moles’s stuff and got to meet her at Solid Sound, hanging out with Sam and Louise Sullivan. She did a performance at Solid Sound for Paste Magazine you should check out.

I had to sing this song really low because I was in a hotel room and I couldn’t sing it high. Plus, it’s kind of hard—there’s a lot of really cool melodic twists and turns that she does. I don’t think I got all of them, but hopefully you get the idea. I think it’s a really great song and she writes really fun, funny, sweet, and touching lyrics.

My old rec is Rainbow Ride by Andy Kim. It’s a fun kind of poppy late sixties, early seventies record. And I love it.

2025 / August 19: The video for Jeff’s song “Feel Free” is released in advance of Twilight Override’s release on September 26. The video was shot at The Loft and was produced and directed by Lance Bangs.

2008 / August 20: Fleet Foxes opens for Wilco at The Winery at Eagle Knoll in Eagle, ID. Wilco’s 25-song set ends with Fleet Foxes joining Wilco for the set-closing Bob Dylan/The Band song, “I Shall Be Released.”

2009 / August 23: Wilco plays a 17-song set at the Green Man Festival in Wales. Also on the bill that day are Camera Obscura, Cranium Pie, Trembling Bells and Hawkwind.
