I Am Nevermore
By: J.D. Russell
Wandering the rooms of your home,
I wander, wander.
From the shadows I watch you slumber, slumber.
Your eyelids flutter and your lips mutter,
Incantations of a life hereafter.
My mouth whispers, Beware, beware,
Along with the tune of your beautiful nightmares.
Deep within the terrors,
You whisper my name.
I gasp. You laugh.
How do you know from where I came?
Fear and sadness, they do not betray,
They linger here day after day.
Never ceasing, you pray for peace,
But only I can give you relief.
Look in the mirror and you will see,
That I am you and you are me.
I am nobody,
I was somebody.
I am Nevermore.
