A good friend of mine alerted me to this rather scary article a few days ago. Herewith the opening salvo:

More than 2,700 people died from heat-related causes during May and June’s record hot spells, as climate change makes heatwaves more deadly, experts estimate. Researchers from Imperial College London, the Met Office, and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) estimated that there were 2,700 excess deaths in England and Wales over the two heatwaves.

And they found that climate change significantly drove up the death toll, as more than two fifths (42%) died as a result of the extra heat caused by human activity – mostly burning fossil fuels.

On closer reading he discovered this wasn’t 2,700 actual people but an estimate furnished through statistical modelling… by Imperial College… Yes indeed, THAT Imperial college who, back in 2020, told us a zillion people would die of COVID. Except they didn’t. Dig around the internet and you’ll find Imperial College guessing numb…
