The book’s a chonker, too... it ended up being longer than the first two, partly because it’s got a lot more scenes from Caelum’s point of view, not just Leda’s, and is much more dual POV than single.

Also, a ton happens... I’m honestly almost worried too much happens, not the reverse... but I needed all of it to happen before the next book, where things really go a bit nuts. :)

Anyway, I really hope everyone likes it! It feels like it’s been more of a journey than usual these past few months, with health issues, the Kickstarter, which was / is a huge learning curve, issues with my aging parents, and then just the usual creative chaos stuff of birthing a book that’s got a lot of moving parts and intense emotions and everything else. One warning - this one ends on a real cliffhanger. There was no other way to do it, frankly, but I know I’ll have a few of you screaming when you hit the last page.

Here’s more about it all ~

“I’ve killed people, Leda. I’m a murderer. Do you really not understand that?”

Leda Shadow finds herself alone at Malcroix Bones Academy at the beginning of winter break. Caelum Bones, her sometimes enemy, sometimes ally, and recently, her sometimes something else, remains in hospital after his own father nearly killed him.

Her friends all scatter to the wind, or so she thinks, until a group of them begin to coalesce among those who stayed behind. When Caelum returns to campus, they form a sort of “Holiday Club,” digging into archives both inside and outside the school for a dangerous and secret project led by Lucifer “Luc” Mocking, one of Leda’s closest friends.

Meanwhile, events outside the school’s walls are heating up, with governments across Magique growing increasingly unstable after the capture of the charismatic “face” of Dark Cathedral, Caelum’s infamous father, Malefic Bones. Violence erupts from their supporters, and calls for the release of the prisoners grows louder and more insistent.

Then people begin to disappear. Before Magical law enforcement can find them, they always reappear, and claim to have no memory of where they were. Yet rumors circulate that they come back different.

When Caelum decides to take matters into his own hands, and investigate these disappearances himself, it unlocks a sequence of events that will change Leda’s life, and his life, forever.

I really hope everyone enjoys it! It’s angsty and pretty crazy and Caelum’s a little insane so he manages to get into a lot of trouble throughout the course of it (after nearly getting himself killed at the end of the last book).

As for me, I’m going to take a few days here to catch up on real-world stuff, in between letting people know about the book. I need to plant a garden, and get some estate work done for my parents, and read a book a friend wrote, and possibly even take a few hours to just go out in nature and breathe. I’m leaving next week on two back-to-back trips, so I only have a small window before I’m out the door again. The first one is purely fun, as I go to Star Wars night with family (planned long ago), and spend a few days at Disneyland.

Then I drive all the way home (5-6 hours?) only to hop on a plane the very same night headed for New York City, where I’ll be staying with friends for a week, then cat-sitting for them for another week. I’m excited about both trips, even if traveling itself is kind of insane right now, at least in the United States. Los Angeles doesn’t worry me apart from the gas prices (sob), but flying sounds daunting at the moment, I’m not going to lie. NYC will be more of a combined work/fun trip, but I have a bunch of things planned that should be a blast, and I love my friends over there and didn’t get much time with them the last time I visited. The only thing that slightly worries me are the flights/airports, as I said, especially on the New York side, but I’m hoping it’s not too bad. Both of these trips were planned months ago, so it kind of is what it is at this point.

But today it’s spading the ground and planting tomatoes and reading over legal documents and reading a book I promised to read, in between posting and making marketing graphics. :)

Hope all of you have a lovely Wednesday, and that you enjoy the new book!

Best wishes, and happy reading!
