There will be times when you sit down to write a blog post, but you simply can’t seem to come up with any ideas on what to write about. This is what happened to me when I tried to write this one. I kept pushing to try to come up with something that was of substance and kept hitting a wall.
Have you ever experienced this?
It’s a common theme that many go through, and it can be frustrating and discouraging. Even when struggling there are some simple things that can be done to come up with an idea that will provide value to your audience. Let’s examine a few easy ways to find an idea that can be expanded on.
Look for inspiration in your daily life.
You don’t have to look very far for inspiration. Your daily life is full of interesting experiences, conversations, and observations that can serve as the foundation. Keep a notebook or a note-taking app on your phone handy to jot down any interesting ideas or insights that you come across during the day. You could write about a funny experience you had, an interesting conversation you had with a friend or a thought-provoking quote you read.
Reading other blogs on topics and ideas that you align with can be another source of inspiration. It’s not about copying what others are writing, but rather about getting ideas and inspiration from what’s already out there. You could even write a response to a post that you’ve read, adding your own unique perspective to the conversation.
Ask your audience for suggestions.
Your audience is a valuable source of inspiration. If you’re struggling to come up with ideas, reach out to them and ask for suggestions. You could do this through a social media post, an email newsletter, or even a survey. Not only will this help you come up with ideas, but it will also show your audience that you value their input. Identifying trending topics within your circle that you are curious about can also help kickstart the thought process.
Repurpose old content.
If you’re really stuck and can’t seem to come up with any new ideas, consider repurposing old content. You could update an old post with new information, turn a series of old posts into an ebook, or even turn a podcast episode into a blog post. The great thing about content and ideas is that they can be evergreen.
Finally, if you keep hitting a wall. Take a break.
Sometimes the best thing you can do when you’re struggling to come up with ideas is to take a break. Go for a walk, do some exercise, or even take a nap. This will help clear your mind and allow new ideas to surface.
Coming up with ideas for your blog posts doesn’t have to be a daunting task. By using these strategies and being open to new ideas, you’ll be able to come up with interesting and engaging content that will keep your readers coming back for more.
Remember, inspiration can come from anywhere, so keep an open mind and stay curious!
