Eric Bieniemy returns and the Chiefs get (mostly) good injury news

Everybody is happy to have Eric Bieniemy back, and understandably so.

At the base human level, it’s just good to see that Bieniemy and his wife, Mia, are in a stable enough place that Eric can return to the team. From the football side, it’s fascinating how evident Bieniemy’s return appeared to be during his first practice back.

Much of the offseason conversation about the Chiefs’ offense revolved around what needed to change and how they could evolve in a way that would improve Kansas City’s offense for 2026 and beyond. I still think those conversations were worthwhile, and we still don’t know if Bieniemy’s return to KC’s offensive coordinator position will be the secret sauce that lifts the Chiefs’ offense back into top form. But it’s easy to understand why the team wanted Bieniemy back in the building.

The Chiefs also had an important pair of players return to practice today, with defensive end Ashton Gillotte (hamstring) and wide receiver Xavier Worthy (shoulder) taking the field after more than a week on the sidelines.

As we discussed on today’s show, I think that Trey Smith’s hip issue needs to be on our radar, but Andy Reid hasn’t expressed concern about Smith’s timeline yet.

I played a ton of Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth back around its original release in 2024 and loved it, but I eventually fell off for some reason and didn’t pick it up again for more than a year. In a bit of a video game funk, I jumped back in a couple of weeks ago, and… man. It still rules.

I don’t have a ton of modern JRPG experience, but I gave Infinite Wealth a shot because I had heard it was a good place for relative newbies to dip a toe into the water, and I just cannot believe how much game is in this game. Unless regular season football gets here first, I think I may actually get to the end of the story this time.

The only downside of my return to Infinite Wealth is that it’s kept me from diving into the full 1.0 release of Fields Of Mistria! I played a solid run-through during early access before deciding to wait for the full edition eventually. Well, that day has come, and I’m busy with Infinite Wealth, trying to catch and battle various street perverts against each other like nasty Pokémon. It’s a weird game.
