Hi! I am new here to Substack and looking forward to starting some dialogue. About me: A follower of Jesus reflecting on, asking questions, and encouraging dialogue about, aid and charity work considering the Scriptures and her experiences. This is an important topic, whether you are a Christian or not. We are all inundated with fundraising and volunteer requests, AND there is the other issue of international aid and our tax dollars. There are so many opportunities to help - we all, at minimum, should be asking what are the best ways that don’t cause more damange than good.
I haven’t been everywhere or seen everything, but I am passionate and love to have conversations about helping (whether it is international aid, serving your neighbor, or walking alongside people in a far off land), what the Bible says about the poor, restoring/maintaining dignity and the harm that has been done in the name of charity. I am looking forward to sharing my thoughts and learning from others on this topic. I want to love and serve the Lord as He would have me. And I want that for others as well.
