I blinked and peeled my tongue from the roof of my mouth. My lips were sticky and my eyes were sore. My temples throbbed and I shook my head, rubbing my eyes. This is why I tried not to drink when I went to the bar; I was a lightweight with hard liquor, and I always paid for it in the morning.
Wine never did this to me. Wine was my friend.
Someone stretched beside me.
“Morning,” he mumbled as he yawned.
“Oh, God,” I groaned.
Dave grinned at me as he scratched his chest. I quickly glanced under the covers to make sure I was at least wearing underwear.
I was.
Before you draw any conclusions from this you should know that it isn’t what you think. Maybe I couldn’t really remember what I was wearing when I went to bed, but I remembered everything else.
I was true to myself. I had integrity, dammit.
