Hello friends, If you are a Software engineer, you may know how salary varies in this field.
It may be possible that the person working next to you on your project is earning much more than you and it’s also possible that a 5-year experienced guy who just joined your team is earning 1.5 times more than you with 15 years of experience.
Since a lot of people asked me about how to grow financially as a Software Engineer, here I am sharing 5 tried and tested tips to increase your salary and package working as a software developer
Small company tends to reward their employees more than big companies so I suggest you join a startup at the start of your career.
In my early days, I worked for a gaming company where we used to get salary hikes every 6 months.
Now, not that many company exists but startups are still a place where you can grow your salary quickly.
When you are early in your career you can change jobs much easily as your salary is not very high and there are a lot of opportunities.
You should make full use of that and change your job every 2 years and jump for double or triple, don’t jump for just a 20% hike.
Preparing for interviews also makes you a better developer and gives you confidence. Otherwise, you will become complacent and not grow much.
If you are good at networking you can also grow with your boss, I know many friends who have great terms with their boss and when he leaves, more often than not the people working with him also leave after a few months with a much better salary and perks.
You should never be afraid of asking an higher salary. I have found that people who ask for a higher salary always get a better salary than people who don’t.
Both your recruiter and HR always have head rooms, sometimes even 50% so you must do Market research and ask 20% more than the top band.
In the worst case, you won’t get but more often than not you will and when you sell yourself high, people also consider that you are worth more.
The better you do on interviews the more chances you will have to get a better salary, so take your interviews seriously and impress your interviewer that you are a Rockstar developer. He will then help you to get what you want.
So, these were my 5 tips to get higher salary and grow fast in your career. What are you tips? Does these tip make sense? Have you used any of these? or may what is your favorite one?
