My LUST lolls from the mouth of a dying hyena
as it lies panting on the burning sand in the shadow of the pyramid—
The pyramid that was the tomb of my aspiration—
Its ribs jut through bone-dry skin
Thin as tissue
Pulled taut, like a death drum barely beating
Its chest rises and falls with the labor of years
The final effort of dragging itself to this blasted waste to die
Its eyes are full of clouds as they unfocus on some mirage
A scarab crawled across the dunes and rolled the sun away
It ushered in the stars along the girdling of her body—
The boundlessness of her perfect body
Covered in jewels
Spiral galaxies in her lashes
And in the whorls of her hair
Glistening and open like a lotus in the summer
on the lush banks of the Nile
Voluptuous and full, swollen with longing—
Amongst these, the moon looked out over the desert waste
The pyramid
The panting animal languishing at its base
And took pity on the beast
Reached out her hand with a phial of crystal stoppered by moonstone
And gave of the hyena to drink
Nourished, it leapt up like the glittering of gold
from amidst the heavy Earth of lead
Its limbs are filled with strength and vigor
New blood courses through veins
like roots that nourish the world tree
with sap that flows from eternity
Vitality returns
And the pyramid becomes the tomb of my LUST
The hyena laughs as it plays amongst the dunes
Bounds and dances with my angel
My sacred aspiration revival
Worship, then, the senses and the rapture of the senses
For no greater pleasure exists under the voluptuous Shade of Heaven
Death, Hell, Oblivion—
But that which dies will be reborn
That which is satisfied and falls today will rise again tomorrow
Bear witness to the life cycle universal
For it is holy
And good
Amn.
