Solitude in the World's Largest City

Two weeks in Japan left me with countless memories and impressions, and I'll be sharing many of them soon (I hope you’re ready for A LOT of photographs of vending machines). I’ll start by sharing some of the quiet moments of solitude I witnessed throughout Tokyo's sprawling metropolis. In a city of 41 million people, I found myself drawn to individuals carved out in contemplative spaces—alone with their thoughts amid the urban rhythm. There is something unique about this ability to be alone together—to maintain introspection despite being surrounded by millions of others.
