Completely Believing In God's Goodness

Is God good?

You know the Sunday School answer (Yes, God is good all the time), but deep in the depths of your soul, with every fiber of your being, and with every thought, do you really believe that God is good?

Today we talk about secure attachment to God, and the good life with God. We look at Psalm 119:65-72.

Here’s some journaling questions for you to ponder:

1. Do you live like God has dealt well with you? Why or why not? What is your definition of the good life? Ask God to show you His definition of the good life for you. (see verse 65)

2. What is your belief about suffering? Is suffering punishment from God? Is God ever disappointed with you? Why did Jesus have to suffer so much? (see verse 71)

3. If God is good and does good, how does that change how you live each day? (see verse 68) Because you belong to a good God, you can be joyful, content in all circumstances. Ask God to make you joyful and content by showing you His goodness. If you have any bitterness, self-pity, or grumbling, you can repent quickly by releasing it, receiving God’s goodness, and rejoicing.

4. What is your heart feeling today? Do you feel numb? Anxious? Delighted? Thank God for giving you a new heart that can feel, and ask Him for His perspective on your feelings. (see verse 70)

5. What is your greatest treasure? What does God want you to treasure? (see verse 72) We can treasure God’s law when we see that Jesus fulfilled the law on our behalf, and has given us His righteousness and worthiness as a gift. Ask God for His perspective on your use of your time, talents, and treasure. Close your eyes and picture God and His Word as your greatest treasure.
