On February 10, 2026, the Trump administration announced it will revoke the 2009 Endangerment Finding. The Endangerment Finding is a simple, but life-saving mandate requiring the EPA to take action to reduce climate pollution and protect lives.
Essentially, the Endangerment Finding is a scientific and legal determination within the Clean Air Act that greenhouse gases (carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide) threaten the public health and the wellbeing of current and future generations and mandates that the agency must set standards to reduce it.
The repeal of the Endangerment Finding isn’t just deregulation — it’s a direct hit on public health and repealing it will have broad, and frankly terrible, implications for all living things:
More frequent and severe disasters fueled by climate change, like wildfires and floods
The Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) estimates 8.5 million more asthma attacks and 12,000 more premature deaths and 10 billion tons of additional climate pollution by 2055
Low-income communities and communities of color living near highways and industrial sites will bear the brunt of the increased air pollution
By ignoring decades of science, Trump and his anti-planet henchman — EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin — are stripping the EPA of its mandate to keep our air and water safe.
Fascist politics often involve protecting corporate power at the expense of public health. When people are preoccupied by illness and survival, they have less time and energy for dissent. This concept is explored in Jason Stanley’s 2018 non-fiction work “How Fascism Works: The Politics of Us and Them.”
Our lives are on the line. We have no choice but to square our shoulders and fight back.
Text ‘EPA’ to 40506 and join JanePAC in telling Trump and Lee Zeldin that we know what they’re doing, and we aren’t going to roll over and take it.
