1st Dibs // The Ring Tote
Why did it take me so long to reorder the Ring Tote? To be honest, there is no good reason. We sold out almost right away. We had other bags in the que to launch, in production. I didn’t want to have too many. I was nervous. It was hard the first time, the skin isn’t easy. The factory hates to work with it because they are small skins with more imperfections (AKA the beauty in it) They are an investment for me to buy because I have to pay for everything up front about 4 months before I can begin to recoup the sales.
I have so many reasons why I dragged me feet. Then when it didn’t make any sense to NOT be doing it, the timing wasn’t on my side. It would show up in Early Summer. And that didn’t feel right.. so here we are. Prime Time. The perfect time to carry a bag like this. Almost 1 year later. I promise I will try to stay on top of it this time.
The handbag I wanted to make was one that felt like it had lived a long and full life. A leather that got better with age, a skin with soul, classic heritage and one deeply resonate with beauty. The Oxblood Bufalini has been my love affair, since day one, of Jamie Haller. It is my penny loafer skin. It tells my story from the inside out. It only made sense that this was my bag.
An elongated silhouette in softly structured in Italian Bufalini. Polished and for every day, with just the right amount of slouch. Hardware that has a beautiful gold sheen, in a shade inspired by the unlacquered brass I used in so many historic home projects. Every detail considered, every idea personal, every moment emotional.
When I say it is emotional, I mean it is for me. I do this all for me. I made this bag for me, and I did so because I found this beautiful lining. In a Japanese showroom, I saw it and thought, I want a bag with this inside it. I fell in love with this stripe. I made it my signature lining.
My philosophy, is that it is important to surround ourselves with beauty, especially when it is only for us. It is in these little moments, the ones only you see. You see, when I open the bag, every time I see it, I feel that little pang of love, that joy, and that feeling is just for me.
Cigaro brings deep warmth to the Italian Suede - a rich tobacco shade that works like a neutral, but with more character and nuance.
Olive brings a muted depth to the Italian Suede - a grounded neutral that feels softer than black and less expected than brown.
