As soon as I saw the clip of timmy shit talking ballet and opera, I said, “oh brother the classical music people are not gonna like this,” and boy did they NOT. Unfortunately for me, many artists directly responded to tim tim in the most sincere and serious way possible, and that shit embarrasses me greatly. Instead of crafting a tearful diatribe where you rebuke T-chal and try to convince the world (and yourself maybe) how virtuous it is that you sing opera or w/e, wouldn’t it be way easier and way more fun to just say “Eat my shit, Tim!” You could sing it in your special opera voice, or put it on a shirt and do 69 ballet pirouettes.
I need to say something.
I like timotay. Ever since I watched Dune I got Chalo-gay pilled, I watched Wonka immediately after Dune and liked it too, they should combine the franchises.
I PROMISE we are going to get back to talking SHIT about that CHUD timagay loserboi but I’m just gonna be really real for a second and say, HE HAS A POINT ABOUT OPERA AND BALLET. Before you huff and exit my blog I want to affirm that what he said was rude, mean, and unnecessary. I’m sorry if it hurt your feelings, he should keep opera and ballet out of his rat boy mouth.
Let’s review his dumb idiotic quote:

First of all, he said he doesn’t want to work in ballet or opera, not that you shouldn’t! Timmo is kwisatz haderach in Dune and is also in one thousand other movies plus dates a Kardashian, clearly this evil little straight twink prioritizes being FAMOUS and RICH. You don’t get fame and riches from the classical performing arts typically right? We can admit that. We don’t share his priorities and that’s okay.
Second, y’all can pretend all you want to that classical performing arts are thriving and extremely relevant but as someone who has been performing classical music my entire life “hey, keep this thing alive” has always been part of the conversation. Its been making me laugh to see the world’s most famous and successful orchestras, opera houses, and ballet companies doing a cutesy social media clap-back at all of this and like yeah on one hand its the moment and this has presented an easy engagement farming viral content opportunity for big arts orgs but also like yeah MET Opera, we know you’re doing fine lmao!! Medium and small arts orgs have to contend with “hey, keep this thing alive” every day. I love reading the minutes of regional symphonies I play with’s board meetings that are like. “Our ploy to trick people into buying symphony tickets by performing The Titanic worked as we sold 1,000 tickets, unfortunately we managed to convert only .001% of audience members into season subscribers. At this moment, we have sold 12 tickets for our upcoming concert “Soiree with Saint-Saens.”
I want arts orgs to thrive, I want them to be relevant, and I need them at least be successful enough to continue paying me $100 plus mileage. I think classical performance is long from dead, but I accept that it is not as relevant as it once was. I’d consider classical music, ballet, and opera all to be niche interests that thrive in their own small worlds. That is fine with me. Classical music’s relevance on a grand scale is not of great importance to me, and it isn’t what gives it value or meaning to me. The number one thing that makes classical music valuable and meaningful to me is that I love it. I love playing music and performing. I would still love doing it even if it were widely considered to be the lamest cringiest and boringest possible use of time. Beyond its value to me personally as something I love doing in a selfish way, I do think classical performing arts are highly valuable to the culture, I want to preserve our traditions and foster new work and innovation. Obviously someone has to wanna consume the art and pay for it for it to exist under capitalism, and I’m okay admitting that a big part of the job for us in arts orgs is the “hey, let’s keep this thing alive” of it all. It’s work worth doing.
So many of the dozens of responses to Timetee Chalaslay from classical artists had an indignant rage and extreme defensiveness that can only come from a place of hurt. Something TC said rang true to them and it hurt their feelings. The responses that really made me cringe were the ones that seemed to be working double time to PROVE to TIMTAM and THE WORLD that ACTUALLY opera IS THRIVING everybody LOVES OPERA I sing in SOLD OUT THEATERS ONLY and you could NEVER SING OPERA TIM!!!!!!! Hmmm sounds like something someone who is slightly worried for the future of opera might say lmao. It’s not as bad as “no one cares about this anymore” (timchal that was rude as hell and its on sight if you cross my path) but its also not like, extremely relevant or important to.. most people? THAT’S OKAY!
I’ve always felt bewildered growing up in the classical music world how if you ask any musician about why they do music, the answer is always NOBLE AS HELL. “Changing hearts, minds and souls, transforming audiences, working to make classical performance accessible to all, music saved my life, music saved my moms life, music saved my dogs life, building bridges, healing the world etc etc etc etc” Either I’m the only silly pig or some of y’all are LYING, bc, once again when asked, Why do you perform classical music, my answer is, “BECAUSE PLAYING THE VIOLIN IS FUN AS HELL AND THE MUSIC SOUNDS GREAT.” When you adopt this attitude you erect a spiritual barrier that shields you from anything idiotic Titty Clitty could ever say about your art because WHAT DO I CARE WHAT THAT TWINK STRAGGOT THINKS ABOUT ME?
So before you make a video (in tears) about how actually dancing ballet is actually something everyone actually cares about a lot actually instead you should:
ignore it
body shame or generally make fun of tims appearance (hes so skinnys famous and rich that its ok)
make fun of his kardashian girlfriend
make fun of his singing in Wonka (which I liked however there have been memes that are like THIS IS THE GUY WE ARE LETTING CRITICIZE OPERA? and they are playing his singing from the wonka soundtrack and that shit is making me laffffff

In conclusion, Timothy, if you are reading this I was just kidding I am actually a fan and we could hang out if you want. Opera is literally so boring lmao! I think you should give ballet another chance tho and we can go to one if you want, I feel like we would vibe better without Kylie but if you insist on bringing her I do not mind that much.
