Americans may not agree on much, but we seem to agree on this. We don't trust the institutions that run this country.
Gallup asked people about the 14 big institutions in America. 12 of them are at their lowest confidence level since 1993. Congress is at 9%. Television news is at 14%. The medical system is at 28%. That matters because institutions are the things we depend on when life gets complicated. Hospitals, schools, courts - we go to these places where we need answers that aren't easy.
And honestly, what would we do without them? No one really wants to know that.
