What this most depraved of crimes tells us about uncontrolled migration

This week, a jury in Harrow convicted a man of a crime so depraved that I can’t bring myself to open with it. I’ll grit my teeth and do my best to return to the repulsive incident by the end of this column, because it’s something you need to hear; once again, it brings us face-to-face with the cultural vandalism of uncontrolled immigration, the longterm effects of which are only starting to be felt.

As I explored in my “View from The Brink” monologue, Britain is being sold two lies on the topic, from opposite ends of the political spectrum. The Left tries to convince us that nothing is wrong: the boats are a manageable nuisance, the anger is manufactured by newspapers, and anyone who says otherwise is a bigot who needs re-educating.

An increasing number on the further reaches of the Tucker Carlson-inspired Right, meanwhile, insist that this has been a deliberate plot cooked up by the you-know-whos, and that the only honest response left is to start sorting British citizens by blood. Or as Charlie Downes, co-founder of Restore, put it, “Britain is a people defined by indigenous British ancestry and Christian faith”. (His leader, Rupert Lowe, has called kosher slaughter a “barbaric foreign practice”; Jews first arrived in Britain as long ago as 1066, stretching the word “foreign” to breaking point.)
