It’s easy to believe that we have conversations at a normal speed.
But try this as an experiment.
Set a timer for 5 minutes. Put it some place you can see it.
Now attempt to have a chat with someone about the weather. Here is the catch. It can only be about your local weather in the last 24 hours.
It’s the only subject and you have to fill the time.
Sound painful?
It’s because we rush to the conclusion of conversations.
We don’t sit in them.
Why is this so important?
Because we often cover up our insecurities, lack of confidence and need for help with speed. If we move fast enough that we don’t have to show weakness.
But weakness is where we become open.
And that’s where the good stuff is.
If you dare… slow down and try to cover less ground. You will find the connection to be deeper AND more satisfying.
And you will actually get more done.
