July 2026 was a very dry month in the UK, but 1955 was just as dry and July 1863 and 1868 were even drier, in fact most July months in that entire decade, 1860-70, were extraordinarily dry.
June 2026 was not a dry month, in fact it was wetter than the 1990-2020 average.
The preceding spring, although drier than average, ranked nowhere near among the driest springs on record since before 1840.
In England, July 2026 has been the driest on record, but was only marginally drier than 1911 and some years in the 1860s.
Winter rainfall in England in 2025/26 was at near record levels so there is no excuse for water companies declaring hosepipe bans. The reservoirs should have been full going into spring and summer. Oh, yes, I forgot, we didn’t build enough of them did we.
All in all, there is zero evidence of a ‘fossil fuel induced drought crisis’. That’s just the media, Green politicians and scientactivists playing fast and loose with the truth.
