Straight-line wind or tornado, I guess regardless of what you call it, it was friggin strong.

Listening to Aurora en Pekin by Marc Ribot & Marc Ribot y Los Cubanos from Y los Cubanos Postizos. Really lovely album from 1998 🎵
I’m not sure what Costco’s online-only landing page is trying to tell me…but I’m here for it:
Busted out the smoker. I’m not a fan of smart devices but had to at least give it a name 😁
14 years, still going strong. People don’t realise that “Just get a Brother laser; it’s fine” is the highest possible compliment for printers. If you want a printer to (1) sit near-dormant in deep sleep for weeks or months on end, and then (2) immediately print what you send to it, properly, every single time and then go to sleep again, then… just get a Brother laser printer. Somehow, in this…
Post by @carnage4life@mas.to The billionaire co-founder of AirBnB wants you to blame the babies of undocumented immigrants for starter homes being unaffordable.
The boy asked us to not wait for him to fall asleep before leaving his room tonight 🧐
Monty Python’s World Cup Team of Philosophers - video Hegel is arguing that reality is merely an a priori adjunct of non-naturalistic ethics, Kant via the categorical imperative is holding that ontologically, it exists only in the imagination and Marx is claiming it was offside.
6 years ago, my son was born on Father’s Day of all days. Today we celebrated both his birthday and Father’s Day. Next one will be in 2037 (I think).
I was very late to the Markdown side of things, however text files were always my jam, certainly professionally (there is not a callcenter agent in the world that didn’t have a thin Notepad window taking up a small slice on the left or right hand side of their screens jotting notes and copying and pasting things in their tools.) In a tech news cycle dominated by trillions of dollars of personal…
I have an old 2012 Mac mini gathering dust at the moment. I may give Haiku OS a try soon. Looks like wifi isn’t supported, audio drivers may be iffy.
Mike Patton is one of my favorite artists and at the end of 2025, he and The Avett Brothers collaborated on an album together. I just bought it and adore what I’m hearing so far: AVTT/PTTN 🎵
Anika Nilles is such a badass
Dare Obasanjo nails it: @carnage4life@mas.to What better way to show Trump is the face of inflation than issuing a $250 with his picture on it? www.npr.org/2026/05/2…
Pour one out for Schlitz 🍻 The beer became a lifeline for Chicago after the Great Chicago Fire. “They didn’t have clean drinking water, so they were drinking Schlitz beer,”
I anticipate more of this to come up in the coming years. Another example of labor’s value being less than capital .
Listening to The Air’s on Fire by Failure from Location Lost 🎵 Pleasantly surprised that Failure were actually still together AND they put out a new album just a couple of weeks ago. Really digging the entire thing.
New member of the tribe. Nameless, or sometimes referred to as “Seis” (Cinco comes around here and there as well). Caturday indeed. __music “Cat Creeps” by Medeski, Martin, & Wood
Zack Nelson of JerryRigEverything YouTube fame and Cambry have been making offroad wheelchairs. They have now expanded to making manual wheelchairs. Great video showing the process and they are undercutting the medical wheelchair business by thousands of dollars and offering personalized fitting.
Starting to think that restricting cigarettes and discouraging sex was a mistake. “It’s not really enjoyable to make music now… it takes a lot of time, it takes a lot of practice, you have to get really good at an instrument or really good at a piece of production software. I think the majority of people don’t enjoy the majority of time they spend making music.” - Mikey Shulman CEO/Founder of…
Birds in my yard
We had a new well dug to connect to the house today. The old well wasn’t deep enough and the mineral content was causing pipe damage (not to mention water quality issues). The boy got to witness the entire process. As the drilling proceeded (about 220 feet!) we got to see the different layers (gravel, clay, sand, a mixture of all 3) the deeper they went. Little 5 year old mind blown.…
It’s the beginning of tick season in Nebraska. Today I learned that the Lone Star Tick may cause alpha-gal syndrome , a sudden allergy to meat. Symptoms range from stomach pains all the way to anaphylaxis. The Lone Star Tick has migrated westward and is considered established in my county (and others) in Nebraska. What horrid little creatures.
I keep wondering how many shocks this country can take. Is it a Tik-Tok attention span? Is it all performative reality TV? Probably a mix of all of the above. Maybe we are settling deeper in the “Who Cares Era” . Still hanging on to every word here: “In the Who Cares Era, the most radical thing you can do is care.” - Dan Sinker
