Standing in the rain after finding out that I am officially Autistic I had two immediate thoughts.
My first was:
“Oh sh!t, that means I’ll never be good socially, and that’s ok cause I never was before.”
And secondly:
“I want to put on Autistic Pride in my city.”
My first thought was largely joking with myself. I had managed to muddle by for 39 years and at the time I didn’t really understand Autistic communication as a part of Autistic community and culture. The second thought was a serious one, and I followed up on it.
